Prerequisites
Only JIRA Administrators and JIRA System Administrators can access the License Monitoring menu.
You have to have at least one user/group added to the application access that is not manipulated by License Optimizer to be able to start License Optimizer!
To open the License Optimizer menu:
Choose Jira Settings→ Applications.
Locate License Manager section and select the License Optimizer menu.
Threshold setting
The Threshold setting allows you to set how much after the last activity should a user be considered inactive (in seconds).
Example: Let's assume we have a single user license and two users: "A" and "B. User “A” logs in and starts to use Jira. User “B” will only be able to log in if user “A” was inactive for at least the time specified by threshold (ie. did not click on anything within Jira for that time). The license of user "A" will be revoked only after that amount of time.
Value must be between 1 and 86400 seconds.
Application setting
License Optimizer is compatible with:
Jira Core
Jira Software
Jira Service Desk
At the moment, you can only manipulate one service at a time.
The application will manipulate the application access of the chosen service.
Group settings
For the proper functionality, License Optimizer requires you to set up access groups.
Login Group
The login group contains all the users who should be able to access the application. The size of this group can be bigger than your purchased license tier.
If a user is not added to the Login Group, he/she will never be able to access Jira.
Access Group
Users who have application access. The selected group here will be manipulated in real-time by License Optimizer to receive application access. You must select one of the groups which have been added to the Application access menu.
The size of this group is calculated by this formula: “your current license tier” - “the size of the groups that are also added in the application access menu for the chosen application”.
